Merino Wool Natural Dye Kit
Each kit comes with two 100 g skeins of bulky merino wool yarn, milled in Missouri and sourced from ethical farms, 2 oz. of madder root extract, 2 oz. of osage orange extract, 20 g of alum for mordanting, step-by-step instructions for the dye process, and sample sizes of habotai silk, 100% cotton, and 100% linen for your experimenting pleasure!
Each dye will fully color one 100 g skein of yarn with plenty of dye left in your dye pot to experiment with other fibers. Love one color? Dye both skeins at the same time and save the other color for experimenting on personal items at home.
Enjoy learning the basics of natural dyeing with two colors that offer a beautiful range of tones. Madder root offers light pinks, medium peaches, and brick reds while osage orange offers a dark yellow and can be shifted to olive green with a little iron water.
This kit pairs well with my new e-course, Foraged Color: Dyeing with Plants.
